Review By Kevin Moss

Tag Team Madness - 3-Way Rules : winner Si Valour & Dylan Roberts
Lethal Dose vs. Si Valour & Dylan Roberts vs. The Mystics

This match was contested under Triple Threat rules which meant the first team to score a pin fall or submission on any member of an opposing team would pick up the victory. It was a fast paced affair with a lot of high risk offence and intriguing double team moves. The Mystics brought their comedy routine into the ring including their trademark “poo” but could only dominate for so long as soon Lethal Dose managed to take over the match with some brutal offence on Voodoo. However, this was Valor and Roberts’s night as they managed to get several near falls on the opposition before Jack Toxic was pinned after the duos finishing move.

GPW British Title Match: winner "Super" Sam Bailey
"Super" Sam Bailey © vs. Cameron Kraze

The next match featured the debut of a star from the Northeast of England, Cameron Kraze a man who earned his shot at the British title by winning the 3CW Heavyweight title which is the top title in that particular region. Cameron did nothing to endear himself to the fans in the early going by insulting the great GPW fans and then encouraging them to shout “Let’s Go Cameron” a request which most certainly fell on deaf ears. By contrast his opponent, the champion Sam Bailey could not have put a foot wrong in the Monaco on this night, the fans were behind him 100%, Cameron being the bigger of the two was able to take down Bailey and dominate for the duration of the match but Bailey would not be denied occasionally fighting back with his trademark offence, like his bulldog from the turnbuckle and his face buster but Cameron escaped each pin attempt. Bailey would ultimately overcome the odds and with the GPW faithful backing him all the way ascended to the top rope and hit his patented Leg Drop to get the pin fall and retain his title. Nevertheless this was an impressive debut for the misogynistic Cameron and I’m sure we’ll see him back in GPW in the near future.

Danny Hope hit the ring next to address the fans. He was interrupted by Dirk Feelgood and the two men had a war of words with Dirk taking a cheap shot on Danny. Fortunately, Ricky J. McKenzie made the save only for Dirk to smack him round the head with a devastating chair shot! The aftermath of this saw Danny and Dirk agree to have a match later in the night.

GPW Tag Team Trophy Match : winner Paradise Lost
Young Offenders © vs. Paradise Lost

This match had been six months in the making, the two teams obsessed with being the GPW Tag Team Champions. Paradise Lost had definitely earned their shot at the trophy defeating 3 other tag teams in an elimination match, eliminating Hayes and Leigh from the Survivor Series elimination match at OTSS and last month, Heresy pinned Hayes in a singles match (admittedly with his feet on the ropes undetected by the official) and Kastor Le Vay upset Damon Leigh. Many in attendance still believed that The Young Offenders could overcome these recent setbacks and hold onto their trophy as was seen when the two made their way to the ring where they received a huge ovation.
The match was textbook tag team wrestling with Hayes and Leigh in control for the most part until some underhanded tactics by the challengers put them in the lead. Hayes and Leigh survived the vicious beating that ensued from the unpredictable and dangerous Kastor Le Vay and seemed on target to retain when the referee lost control of the match. Kastor managed to get his hands on a foreign object and hit Joey squarely in the head as the referee was distracted, Damon noticed what was going on but it was too late as Heresy restrained Damon and prevented him from breaking up the pin attempt!
As a result Paradise Lost are your NEW GPW Tag Team Champions and for any trivia buffs out there, as a result of this victory, Heresy has become the first Triple Crown Winner in GPW having won the Heavyweight title, the British title and now the Tag Team Trophy. Salt was rubbed further into the wounds of Damon Leigh and Joey Hayes when the ring announcer, Sam Shaw announced that per the stipulations agreed in the contract signing because the Young Offenders had lost this match they had to split up forever, as the match had also had a “Losing Team Must Split” stipulation added to it. With that being said, despite it being the end of an era in GPW, Damon and Joey said they would continue their careers as solo competitors and Joey vowed to win the Crazy Cruiser 8 tournament while Damon said he had set his eyes on a bigger prize, the GPW Heavyweight title. Will Damon and Joey manage to achieve their goals? You shall have to attend the shows to find out the answer.

First Ever: Boxing Match : winner Bubblegum
Bubblegum vs Alan A.A Tasker

This contest was set up at the last show when Tasker’s interference cost Bubblegum a chance to advance into the Big Brother Battle Royal in a match with Jack Toxic. Speaking of Jack Toxic, he, Cyanide and “Sober” Mike Holmes were appointed the guest judges for this first match in a move many would consider to be highly dubious given their association with Mr. Tasker but that’s what happened.
The match was fought under 15 3 minute periods and at the end of each period the combatants would have a few minutes rest before the bout resumed. Tasker had also recruited CJ Bank’s personal trainers for this bout (Banks currently in Europe training for his next opportunity at the British title) which put the odds of victory in his favour. Bubblegum was not intimidated and managed to knock Tasker from pillar to post throughout the bout. It was only the interference of the seconds and Toxic abruptly ending each round whenever his man was in trouble that prevented the knock out blow from being struck. Toxic and Cyanides opinion of each round seemed biased against Bubblegum throughout but that’s to be expected. By the fourth round, Bubblegum had had enough and a nasty right hook right in the jaw of Tasker knocked him out cold and gave Bubblegum the victory.

Danny Hope vs Dirkfeelgood winner Danny Hope by diq

This was the first time Hope and Feelgood have ever gone one on one in GPW and what a match it was. It started out as a fairly even wrestling match with Danny keeping Dirk on the mat with some impressive arm drags before Dirk’s unorthodox style gave him the upper hand. Danny fed off the emotion of the audience and regained the advantage and super kicked his foe and went for the pin only for a hooded man to run into the ring and break up the pin fall. This man turned out to be Jiggy Walker who had been suspended by GPW Owner Richard Noble due to his unprofessional conduct in recent months. Therefore, Danny Hope won the match via disqualification.

GPW Heavyweight Championship Re-Match : winner Juggernaut
Juggernaut © vs. Martin Kirby :

This match was set up at the last show when Kirby not only won the Big Brother Battle Royal but also took Juggernaught to the limit managing to defeat the champion via count out which meant the champion regained his title. Kirby demanded a rematch and it was granted.
Both men poured their heart and soul into this encounter neither wanted to quit even when it became clear Juggernaught was wrestling on a badly injured knee and Kirby for all his best efforts seemed somewhat concussed, the match was that brutal, certainly not for the fainthearted. Kirby hit Juggernaught with his best offence as did the champion but neither man would stay down for the three count and the war continued.
In the end it took a huge lariat from the champion that caused Kirby to spin 360 degrees and right onto his head knocking him out to get Kirby to stay down for the three. Despite his loss, the GPW fans could not have been more proud of their hero on this night and while tonight was night Kirby’s night, I’m sure sooner or later, Kirby will leave the Monaco Ballroom with the GPW Heavyweight title around his waist.
