GPW will be back after a short break on August 14th for a rare Saturday slot at The Monaco Ballroom, Hindley, Wigan. The first order of business is a slight name change, from this point on we're ditching the Garage (some might say about time!) and re-branding as Grand Pro Wrestling, but we're still staying very much GPW!
On with what you can expect to see on August 14th at GPW: "Alive & Amplified"...

GPW Heavyweight Title:
The Future

Firstly, during the Summer there have been some major developments in the Heavyweight Title scene. For reasons to be unveiled at "Alive & Amplified" Juggernaut can no longer be recognised as the GPW Heavyweight Champion and the title has been vacated. The future of the belt will be announced at the show.

Main Event:
El Ligero vs. Mark Kodiak

Two names that should create all the hype needed without anything else needing to be said take up the main event slot in a first time ever meet. The UK's very own luchador, El Ligero takes on the man from The Netherlands known as "The Girzzly Renegade" Mark Kodiak in singles action.
After a lengthly hiatus, Kodiak returned to GPW in May at "A Few More Good Men" entering No.16 in the 30 Man Rumble, lasting until the final 2 and striking fear into the hearts of all the GPW superstars. Although eventually eliminated by DDL, Kodiak made a big enough impression to return for "Alive & Amplified" in the main event to do it all over again. His opponent is GPW mainstay El Ligero. One of the most recognisable superstars in the UK, Ligero has wrestled near enough everybody - apart from Kodiak. These two men's paths have never crossed before, so what will happen when they do for the first time at GPW: "Alive & Amplified"?

One thing is for certain this will be a match for the ages!

CJ Banks British Title Open Challenge:
"The Juice" CJ Banks © vs. ????

For the first time since winning the title, "The Juice" CJ Banks will issue a special British Title Open Challenge to anyone from GPW and beyond man enough to take him on in singles action. Who will take up the challenge?
The MasterPlan's 3rd Member:
Revealed on August 14th
After months of hype we are told that The MasterPlan's much talked about 3rd member will make himself known. Who could this person be?

Singles Match:
Joey Hayes vs. Bruce Sheila

Bruce Sheila has failed to make many friends since his arrival in GPW. Still in his rookie year, on August 14th he'll take on a man who's been on the roster since the beginning - the mega popular, Joey Hayes. In this first time singles match, Joey will look to teach the arrogant Aussie a thing or two about what it takes to succeed at GPW, whereas Sheila will be looking to cause an upset and make a name off Hayes' back. Sheila is fresh off the heels of a big victory over Jak Domitrescu in May and a respectable Rumble run, entering No.29 and eliminated by the eventual winner, DDL. Can Joey teach Bruce a lesson, or will Sheila score an upset?

4-Way Tag Team No.1 Contenders Match:
"Super" Sam Bailey vs. Cameron Kraze vs. Xander Cooper vs. Jak Domitrescu

With Voodoo on the injured list and no viable No.1 Contenders to Paradise Lost's tag team trophy, at "Alive & Amplified" we'll discover who the new No.1 Contenders are in a special 4-way match. Each individual represents themselves and a partner, whoever is victorious at the end will have the opportunity to pick a partner of their choosing and challenge Paradise Lost to their Tag Team Trophy.
It's well documented 4-ways in GPW have always provided the highest quality of match, and one man synonymous with many of those in the past has been "Super" Sam Bailey. Bailey will once again compete in another fantastic looking 4-way for the chance at a title he held alongside Matt Taylor over 3 years ago from Feb - July 2007. The MasterPlan's Cameron Kraze will most certainly have the size advantage going into this match, but will the fact he's not been in this type of match before hinder him?
We are told the MasterPlan's 3rd member will unveil himself on Aug 14th, could this be timed to help Kraze win here?
Relative GPW newcomer, Xander Cooper represents Prof.
Mike Holmes' group and has a multitude of possible tag team partners to choose from should he win, not to mention his regular tag team partner Carl Clinch. And the worrying thing is, you feel as though Mike Holmes would happily return to the lab and invent another superstar to assist Cooper if his man won. The Eastern Bloc leader, Jak Domitrescu makes up the 4th and final competitor in a match that could well be very suited to the Eastern Bloc's methods. The Bloc are known to travel in a group with Kristov Eganski, Thor Laarson and Vladimir Radkov never far away and a move into the tag division could be the wisest move the massively popular Bloc. However, can they be successful? The Monaco faithful will surely be cheering them on. But who will emerge No.1 Contenders at the end?

Grudge Match:
Dylan Roberts vs. Dirk Feelgood

In a feud that has gone on for months, Dylan will finally get a shot in a singles match against the man that has made life a living hell - The MasterPlan's Dirk Feelgood. Feelgood has been to great lengths to try and recruit Dylan into a movement he's called The MasterPlan since October last year. Dylan rebufed all Dirks' offers again and again as he and then tag partner Si Valour fought bravely against the evil MasterPlan duo of Cameron Kraze and Dirk Feelgood. However, Valour turned on Dylan as he looked to impress Dirk and appeal to joining the MasterPlan himself. In a shocking turn of events, former Heavyweight Champion, Dirk Feelgood slammed the door to the MasterPlan shut right in Valour's face and announced he would no longer be conducting his business publicly and he would recruit his 3rd man "behind the scenes".
Roberts has been on an emotional journey having had his partner turn on him and himself subject to beat downs and punishment, not forgetting it was Feelgood who cost him any chance he had of advancing in the Crazy Cruiser-8 Tournament 2009.
On August 14th, these two will come together in special grudge match where they will settle their differences for good. Can good overcome evil, or will Dirk have yet another plan in place?

8-Man Mega Match:
Jack Gallagher, Fox Carter & Paradise Lost vs. Ricky J. McKenzie, The Great Suzuki, Vladimir Radkov & Kristov Eganski

This huge 8 man match throws up all sorts of never before seen clashes as 2 time regaining GPW Tag Team Trophy holders, Paradise Lost team with CJ Banks protege, Fox Carter and the man formerly known as Jack Toxic, tag team specialist - Jack Gallagher. An impressive looking team combine for the first time to take on an equally impressive looking opposition. The hottest rookie in the country is starting to mature and find his place on the roster, Ricky J. McKenzie finds allies in a former GPW Tag Team Champion - The Great Suzuki along with Eastern Bloc duo, Vladimir Radkov & Kristov Eganski. The boys from the Bloc are able to call upon previous tag team experience with one another to work efficiently but will all four of their teams individual talents be enough to defeat Gallagher, Carter & the GPW tag team champions? And what impact will this have going forward?
Also in the house on August 14th will be GPWs newest superstar - Leo Love!

GPW Saturday nights are a rare occasion, even rarer are shows as good looking as this. Kodiak / Ligero main event, MasterPlan's 3rd member, Grudge Match, Heavyweight Title announcement, British Title Open Challenge, Singles Match, 4 Way and an 8 man? All for £7 per person or £24 for a family of 4.
Those living a distance away put off by travel on our regular Friday night slots have no excuses this time!

GPW: "Alive & Amplified", The Monaco Ballroom, Atherton Rd, Hindley, Wigan WN2 3EU, doors will open at 7pm and the show will start at 7:30. See you there!
Also... big updates made on the blog and more to come in the next couple of days.

On"A Few More, Good Men" an unforgettable night and proving why GPW is so good. Certainly one of our best shows.
The attendance rivaled some of our biggest draws:
2005 "Salvation Is Near" - 478
2008 "V" - 462
2006 "Back With A Bang" - 421
2007 "Only The Strong Survive" - 414
2010 "A Few More, Good Men" - 403

Bruce Wins The Battle, The Bloc Win The War...

Bruce Sheila def. Jak Domitrescu in 9:18

Jak Domitrescu left his Eastern buddies behind as he took on Bruce Sheila one on one in this contest. The two have had their horns locked in battle since Bruce's debut back in February. The crowd firmly behind Jak thougut they had done enough by cheering him onto victory, but Bruce caught him with his famed "Outback Breaker" and took the win. His celebrations turned into fear however when the rest of The Bloc poured out of the locker room to remind Bruce that he may have won this one, but they were going to have the last laugh.

Paradise Lost def. The Mystics in 15:53

In a brutally hard hitting contest no bodies were spared in this tag title spectacle. Never have the GPW Tag Team Tiltes been contested so violently before. From suicide dives, pineapples, thumbtacks, handcuffs, ladders and more - this match was not for the feint hearted. The fans were in full voice throughout and the atmosphere was electric for this one. After a mistake by Suzuki however, Paradise Lost were able to capitalise by handcuffing him to the ring post and isolating Voodoo. Despite a valliant attempt at a comeback, the writing was on the wall for The Mystics. With a back full of thumbtacks, Voodoo's head was put in the ladder and DDT'd to the mat.

Even After 10...
One of the biggest rivalries to date saw the unstoppable heavyweight Champion, Juggernaut take on the man who'd missed 12 months of action because of the champions actions. Juggernaut wasted no time in centering his attack on the shoulder of El Ligero, but Ligero was ready for him and soaked up the punishment, even doling out some of his own as Juggernaut collided with the ring post shoulder first.

Juggernaut & El Ligero fought to a double count out draw at 14:17

Soon, everyone in the Ballroom were on the edge of their seats willing Ligero on, but it wasn't to be. After the referee was knocked down by Juggernaut, Tasker involved himself in the match hitting Ligero with the brief case over the back of the head. Once the ref regained consciousness the crowd screamed for Ligero to cover the champ but neither man were able to move and as the referee administered the 10 count the match ended in double K.O draw.

Here's what happened in the Rumble!
This years Mystery Wildcard Entrants were: Leo Love

Sporting a sailors hat, a feather boa, glittering make up and wearing pink if you were still in doubt of Leo's sexual orientation then i think "In The Navy" by The Village People might've finally given it away. However, this didn't stop the Monaco immediately cheering him on all the way. Even when he hung onto the bottom rope where his only defence was blowing kisses...
i'm sure we've not seen the last of Homo-Sensation Leo Love.

Mothman
Not many Rumbles go by without the bright lights attracting The Mothman! Mothman returned to GPW with visions of becoming the No.1 Contender by taking one of the Wildcard spots, it wasn't to be. Maybe next time for the Mothman!

Jervis Cottonbelly
Much to the delight of all in attendance the paint sprayer from Derbyshire with cotton on his belly, Jervis Cottonbelly returned to GPW doing quite well for himself too! Jervis was up to his old tricks tying opponents up in holds just long enough to have a read of his paper and fooling everyone with his invisible wall. I'm sure Jervis will be back again soon!"

The eventual winner, DDL has had a very public struggle with motivation, but it was at the Rumble he decided to go all out taking one of the Wildcard places and entering No.30 to win it! The longest time spent in the Rumble this year was by Kodiak at an impressive 25:19, with Dirk Feelgood coming second at 24:42. However, no records were broken and still with the longest ever is Joey Hayes.

Dangerous" Damon Leigh won the 30 Man Rumble in 53.29

In contrast, the shortest time in this years Rumble was the Eastern Bloc's Vladimir Radkov who managed only 45 seconds. But Benson Richards' 11 seconds is still the shortest. Skullcrusher had the unfortunate accolade this year as being the first man eliminated.
Mark Kodiak managed the most eliminations, eliminating 9 people from the Rumble! Juice, the runner up with 3.
It was again the later numbers that gave us the winner, #30 being the lucky number this year.

We are taking pre-orders for "A Few More, Good Men"
scheduled for release by the end of June.

As for people leaving... what makes you think people have left for good?

I know we're a bit behind on the blogs, but i'm hoping the break will give me a chance to catch up and once i have, you'll be able to see the reasoning behind the booking and why some things have happened. Sometimes, things aren't that simple. And, as i'm sure you're aware - no wrestler ever leaves the business for good!

May 21st Garage Pro Wrestling will present their third 30 MAN RUMBLE!!
30 men enter - 1 man leaves!

The winner of the rumble will be determined No.1 Contender to the GPW Heavyweight Title.  There will be some announced names, but also some surprises throughout the night. But, before we look who's entering, the Rumble isn't the only thing happening on May 21st... here's the rest of the card:

GPW Heavyweight Title Match
Juggernaut © w/ Alan A.A Tasker vs. El Ligero

In what promises to be a match for the ages, No.1 Contender El Ligero takes on dominant Heavyweight Champion - Juggernaut. After making his GPW debut nearly 7 years ago - this will be Ligero's first ever shot at the Heavyweight title, and whats more - it will be against the man who put him out of action for over 11 months.
On 20th March 2009 in the main event of GPW: "Livin' On The Edge" it was the unleashed monster Juggernaut who picked Ligero up and rammed him into the cold steel ring post wrenching his shoulder out of place. Not content with that, Juggernaut targeted the shoulder for the rest of his attack. The injuries sustained were so severe, Ligero was rushed to hospital and underwent well documented shoulder surgery. Ligero finally returned to action on Feb 19th this year, after initially coming up against competition from Darkside, he ousted both Cameron Kraze and Martin Kirby in a thrilling 3-way Eliminator to claim the No.1 Contendership.
Juggernaut, now in his 13 month as champion has beaten everybody put before him - Ricky J. McKenzie, Martin Kirby, "Dangerous" Damon Leigh and last month he destroyed Prof. Mike Holmes, Skullcrusher, Nordic Warrior, "Mini Iron" Mike and Vitamin C in one fail swoop. Ligero has never held a singles title in GPW, he's never had a shot at the Heavyweight title before - can El Ligero make history and get revenge?

Or will Juggernaut stop him in his tracks?

GPW Tag Team Title No Holds Barred Match
The Mystics © vs. Paradise Lost

The fun and games are over. The situation between these two rival teams got really serious when The Mystics surprised everyone with a win at GPW: "Jam Hot!" and became new tag team champions. However, they will have to defend their newly won titles against the former champs in a No Holds Barred tag match as Paradise Lost invoke their right to a re-match clause.

The Mystics have playfully teased Paradise Lost all year, getting under their skin enough that they took their eye off the ball long enough Suzuki and Voodoo took the titles off them. Paradise Lost were already out for blood at the start of the year after blaming The Mystics for Heresy's injury, but now they've lost the titles one can only wonder what bad intentions they have on their mind. However, The Mystics have come of age in this feud and have proved that they are in no way to be taken lightly. The duo have gelled well combining a mixture of comedy, teamwork and fluid tag team wrestling to bring out the best in both men. You can't help but feel a No Holds Barred plays in favour of the unorthodox Paradise Lost, but The Mystics have surprised us before, can they do it again and remain tag champions?

One On One
Bruce Sheila vs. Jak Domitrescu

Imagine a man so disliked, the GPW faithful start to cheer for a group of Eastern Europeans instead of him, then you've got Bruce Sheila.
The Aussie born Sheila debuted earlier this year and immediately made an enemy of the beloved Eastern Bloc. The boys from the Bloc have made life hard for Sheila having rained on his parade not once, but twice. Most notably when they, with an assist from a Ginsters pie cost Bruce his debut match against an inflatable crocodile affectionately known as "The Eastern Croc". However, Bruce was able to gain some measure of revenge last month when he rolled up Jak Domitrescu for a 3 count whilst he had his feet on the second rope for leverage. These two will now finally settle their differences in a one on one. After all his talk, this will be Bruce's actual first one on one match at GPW. His opponent, a former GPW British Champion will have the Monaco behind him but who will walk away with their hand raised?

Main Event - The Rumble
30 Man Rumble for No.1 Contendership
You know the script by now - 30 men enter, 1 man leaves. The winner will be named the No.1 Contender to the Heavyweight title. There will be announced names and spaces left for a handful of mystery entrants. Over the coming weeks, we'll announce the names confirmed and looking at each persons chance at winning, but first let's have a look at the numbers game and some Rumble stats. It's all about the numbers...
It's no surprise that the latter numbers are the most influential in the rumble, and it has been numbers 20 - 30 that have proven to be the most important in our previous two rumbles. Although, it is worth noting that whoever has drawn No.30 (Dom Travis in 2006 and "Super" Sam Bailey in 2007) in the past, has never won... the winning numbers have been No.21 and No.26.

Bubblegum, the winner of the first 30 Man Rumble "A Few Good Men" April 2006 drew No.21 and won. Heresy, winner of the second 30 Man Rumble at "Friday Night Thriller II" October 2007 drew No.26 and won.
No.13 is unlucky for some and the one that many will hope to avoid, but if there's any number that's really unlucky - it's No.11. It was the number poor old Benson Richards drew in 2007. It was also the amount of seconds he lasted in it... the shortest ever time in a rumble. In contrast, the longest time ever lasted in the Rumbles has been an iron man effort from Joey Hayes in 2006 who entered No.8 and lasted right down to the last 2, a total of 42 minutes 18 seconds.

Moth Man

The early numbers seemed to have produced some inspiring efforts. Jack Toxic gained the plaudits in 2007 as he entered No.4 and lasted an impressive 34 minutes 53 seconds. Other mentions go to Kris Travis in 2006 who entered No.7 and eliminated after 28 minutes 6 seconds. Chris Echo is a man whose stamina in rumbles of the past should be mentioned. He entered No.1 in 2006 lasting just shy of 25 minutes and going just over 20 minutes in 2007 when entered No.17. Both CJ Banks and Jiggy Walker have also put in notable performances. But, will anyone set a new record this time? Here's a look at some of the first confirmed names in the rumble, in no particular order:

Danny Hope
Danny's stock rose yet again this year after coming out on top in his feud with William Gáylord. A seasoned rumble competitor he has appeared in both and was the winner of the inaugural Last Chance Battle Royal in 2006. One half of the longest reigning GPW Tag Team Champions, Danny wants to add more gold to his name with a win here. Luck has been with him with previous draws having entered No.25 in 2006 and No.18 in 2007. A good number here may be all Danny needs to win.

Ricky J. McKenzie

The fastest rising star on the roster threw his name in the hat for the rumble last month. Having already competed for the Heavyweight title once this year, RJM is keen to get himself another shot. This will be the first rumble appearance for Ricky J. - with luck on his side, could this be the time for RJM?Jack Toxic

After an eye catching performance in 2007 entering No.4 and lasting 34 minutes and 53 seconds, Jack Toxic will be hoping for a higher number this year. Having already won a Last Chance Battle Royal in 2008, Toxic has proven he has the tools to last in this kind of environment. His leverage and low centre of gravity surely make him an underdog in the 2010 Rumble.

Mark Kodiak

A series of haunting video packages sent a message to GPW that after 3 years away from The Ballroom, Mark Kodiak will return at this years Rumble. The "Grizzly Renegade" last appeared in June 2007 but drew No.2 in the 2006 Rumble. Never failing to strike fear in the hearts of many, his pending return has already rendered the same effect. The dynamic and impressive Kodiak has promised to destroy the roster at the Rumble, easily one of the favourites to win - what will happen when Kodiak returns?

Mike Holmes

Skull Crusher

Nordic Warrior

Vitamin C
