GPW Past Events " Hold Tight "

GPW Hold Tight
This show featured the culmination of another great rivalry in GPW that had been brewing for sometime in the tag team division. Damage Control, WKD, Project Ego and even Kev and Krev claimed to be the best tag team in GPW. After several controversial battles between the 4, Richard Noble finally decided to settle the matter once and for all in a tornado tables elimination match with an added bonus, the winners of the match would be crowned the first ever GPW Tag Team Champions. The match was scheduled to take place in the main event of the evening but before we got to the match there were several great matches.

Match Number 1: The MilAnfield Connection versus Rupert and Mike Holmes
This match came about as a result of what took place at the last show, Jiggy Walker tired of Mike’s so called “dodgy officiating” in his matches had challenged Mike to team with his brother Rupert against the MilAnfield Connection. The action was quick and fast with the Holmes duo showing great teamwork despite it being their first match as a tag team. In the closing moments the referee was distracted and Jiggy Walker grabbed his trusted hubcap hit Mike on the head with it and covered it for the pinfall. Despite the loss the Holmes Brothers proved they have a bright future ahead of them in GPW.

WINNER: The MilAnfield Connection

Match Number 2: Joseph Hayes versus Paul “Demo” Gibson
Hayes came into this match full of momentum after his big win over Bubblegum at Back with a Bang and despite Demo’s loss to Sabotage at the same event he seemed more focused then ever in his attempt to end Hayes winning streak. Demo held his own against Hayes getting a few near falls before succumbing to the devastating Teenage Kick of Hayes who then got the pinfall. Hayes was not done yet however as he called his stable mates, Jonny Phere and Minx into the ring to further the assault on Demo. Phere in particular used the opportunity to send a message to his opponent (using a nasty razor’s edge type move) later in the evening “Dangerous” Damon Leigh but before the beat down could get any worse, Dirk Feelgood and Bubblegum made the save. Feelgood quickly reminded Minx that they were due to meet each other in the ring up next and said he didn’t want to wait anymore and with that said, match number 3 was on.

WINNER: Joseph Hayes

Match Number 3: Intergender Challenge Match: Dirk Feelgood versus SIN Member Minx
Dirk had a bit of fun with Minx in the early going embarrassing her with several humiliating mouenevers and seemed to have the match well in hand until the timely interference of SIN Members Hayes and Phere (who still hadn’t left ringside) gave Minx the upper hand allowing Minx to work over Feelgood’s injured arm. In the end Feelgood made a heroic comeback until the clown (who Dirk had brought out for moral support) entered the ring and attacked Feelgood. The clown then revealed his true identity, he was none other then International Heavyweight Champion Heresy who returned claiming he wanted to the fans to see the new International Heavyweight Champion in the flesh. Mr Noble had seen enough however and came ringside. Mr Noble demanded that Heresy should defend his newly won title and Heresy refused claiming there was no one good enough on the roster to face him. Noble came up with a better idea, a 30 man over the top rope royal rumble match at the next show with the winner getting to face Heresy at a later date. Heresy agreed to this but that was not the only SIN member Noble had plans for. He then announced that Hayes had another match scheduled for later in the night against Bubblegum. Despite Hayes protests Noble refused to cancel the match and it was scheduled to take place later in the night.
WINNER: No contest

Match Number 5: GPW British Championship Match: Jonny Phere versus Champion “Dangerous” Damon Leigh
DDL fresh off his huge win over Alex Shane again had a lot of pressure on him going into this match, having only just regained the title from Shane a month ago after waiting a year for a title shot, could he possibly lose the title to a hungry Jonny Phere? We would not have long to wait. The match began with a bit of technical wrestling until Phere found the weakspot in DDL and began working on his back after damaging it on the outside of the ring. With the hot crowd in Wigan willing him on DDL found the strength to fight out of Phere’s many punishing holds and finally hit the Risk Factor to retain his title. DDL’s night was not quite over though as a video then played on the Garage Tron. It appeared to be Mark Kodiak, his opponent from Trials and Tribulations in September and he challenged DDL to a match for his British title. DDL was seen accepting the match but who knows when the match will take place?

WINNER and STILL British Champion: DDL

Match 6: Joseph Hayes versus Bubblegum
This match was a rematch from the last show, Back with a Bang and it just got going when Mr Noble reappeared and said he had changed the match it was now going to be a triple threat match, the third man? El Ligero making his return to GPW.

Match 6: Joseph Hayes versus Bubblegum versus El Ligero
The next match praised by the GPW fans as being a potential match of the year got off to a great start with some great exchanges. The action was fast and furious and Hayes, despite having competed earlier managed to keep up with the 2 high flyers. Each man had the opportunity to win the match but the third man always broke up the pinfall at the last possible moment. The finish came when Ligero connected with the Mexican Wave (Slice Bread no2) on Bubblegum only for Hayes to hit the Teenage Kick on Ligero and then pin Bubblegum to once again keep his winning streak in tact. Is there no one who can defeat Joseph Hayes???

Main Event: Tornado Tables Elimination Match for the GPW Tag Team Championship: Project Ego versus Kev and Krev versus Damage Control versus WKD.
Finally it was time for the main event of the evening. As previously stated Kev and Krev were in the match and Project Ego was represented by Kris Travis and Scotty Hexx, WKD by C Juice and D Lyrium and Damage Control by “The Dragon” Sean Macleane and Dom Travis. WKD took control of the match early on clearing Project Ego and Damage Control from the ring. Kev and Krev used this distraction to get the tables ready but unfortunately they were set upon by Project Ego. Travis set Krev up for his patented Underhook Piledriver off the apron through the table to eliminate Kev and Krev.

Damage Control and Project Ego then picked one member of WKD and began to systematically break them down. Despite a great effort and fan support Dom Travis put D Lyrium through a table with his Wheelbarrow German Suplex to eliminate WKD. Dom then decided to put C Juice through a table (which was not necessary) but then who should make the save but Elroy Doogle. Doogle hit his patented Doogle Dawg on Dom Travis and then helped WKD backstage. So we were down to Project Ego and Damage Control. One team that had only recently appeared on the scene versus another who had been with GPW since its inception. Both teams were desperate to win this match but in the end there could only be one winner. Project Ego set The Dragon up for a doomsday device through a table and with that the bell rang and Project Ego became the first ever GPW Tag Team Champions. The Ego has landed!

Winner and NEW Tag Team Champions: Project Ego
