GPW: "Out For Justice" Official Review

Wow! What a night "Out For Justice" was... if you missed it, below is the official review.
The DVD of the event will be released on April 16th and can be purchased along with a huge back catalogue of previous events on www.gpwshop.co.uk

To address the currently unreleased DVD's mentioned in this thread, we are indeed missing: Only the Strong Survive 2008 (the Cibernetico show...), Christmas Crunch, Back with a Bang 2009 and also Let Loose. This is largely down to poor film quality. I do hold out hope that some time down the line we can release them in some form or other, but for the time being - don't hold your breath.

The quick results from GPW: "Out For Justice" were:
Martin Kirby bt. Fox Carter by pinfall in 10mins 16secs
William Gáylord bt. Danny Hope by pinfall in 7mins 45secs
El Ligero & The Mystics bt. Darkside & Paradise Lost by pinfall in 13mins 16secs
Croc-a-Roc-a-Mous bt. Bruce Sheila in 2mins 18secs
The MasterPlan bt. Valour & Roberts by count out in 9mins 55secs
Juggernaut bt. Ricky J. McKenzie by pinfall in 13mins 10secs
Joey Hayes & "The Juice" CJ Banks drew after a double pinfall on 15mins

Brief stories behind the results are:Grudge Match:

Martin Kirby vs. Fox Carter"Kirby Out-Foxes Carter..."

What better way to start a nights search for justice with a good old grudge match?! This rivalry had been brewing quietly for a some time and as the bell rung, the action was fast paced and competitive as both men worked hard in establishing themselves in a contest that went back and forth throughout. With the crowd solidly behind Kirby, it only served to anger the vicious Fox Carter who with venom struck out with a range of impressive strikes and kicks. Both of which have become the former personal trainer to Juice's most dangerous asset. However, he was eventually caught out when Kirby hit his signature hand spring elbow and the tide was turned. It was now Kirby's time to stamp his authority on the match, much to the applause of the GPW faithful. Cheers turned to despair when it looked like Fox had got the win as he caught Kirby in his innovative Tap Or Die (T.O.D), but Kirby hung on refused to tap. He mustered enough strength to then avoid the Five Star Fox Splash. As Fox crash landed Kirby signalled for Kirby's Dream Land and scored the win after 10mins and 16secs.

Re-Match:
William Gáylord vs. Danny Hope

"Danny Gets Caned..."

In a re-match from "Back With A Bang 2010" it was Gáylord who was out for justice next as Danny Hope looked to make it 2 wins in 2 over the King's Hill resident. Same match, same chant. Gáylord was greeted in the usual manner by the fans as he sauntered arrogantly to the ring. "Gaaaaaaaaaylord! Gaaaaaaaaaaylord" he did his best to remain composed, he walked to the ring with a plan in mind that would ensure Danny wouldn't get lucky again... it was de je vu for Gáylord in the early goings however as Danny had him reeling. Danny connected with his Catwalk Kick, (enough normally to finish any man off for the 3 count) but the kick had so much force behind it, it knocked Gáylord through the middle rope and out onto the Ballroom floor. Although he didn't know it yet - this spelt disaster for Hope and turned out to be the beginning of the end. As Gáylord came to, he threw his robe into the ring long enough to distract the referee, and give himself enough time to grab his cane and lie in wait for Danny to come and get him. Danny played right into Gáylord's hands and as soon as he popped his head through the ropes - SMACK. Gáylord caned him behind the referees back on 7mins 45secs. Something tells me this one isn't over yet..
"You Better Run..."

Next, ring announcer Sam Shaw drew everyones attention to the screens to see footage we'd been sent earlier that day regarding an individuals pending arrival. Instead of me explaining what happened

Six Man Tag:
El Ligero & The Mystics vs. Darkside & Paradise Lost

"Mystical Tricks Work A Treat."

The momentum behind the Mystis express rolled into the Ballroom next as they brought along El Ligero for the ride. It didn't take long for Voodoo & Suzuki to be up to their old tricks and doing what they've done for the last 4 months - embarrassing and getting the better of tag team champs Paradise Lost! Heresy was the first to fall victim, followed by LeVay. Ligero must've been spending some time with Voodoo & Suzuki this past month picking up on a couple of tricks himself, pulling out a shiny medal to distract LeVay before dispatching of the unpredictable monster over the top rope and to the Ballroom floor. The crowd held their breath as Ligero then scaled the top rope and took to the air landing a cross body from the inside out on both LeVay and Heresy. However, the fun and games were over when Darkside got in the ring.
Isolating Voodoo from his team, Darkside, LeVay and Heresy took turns in picking him apart with quick, efficient tagging. They didn't have their own way for long though. LeVay missed a spear which lead to Voodoo getting the much needed tag for his team. Suzuki and Ligero entered the fray with a head of steam by and sent Heresy reeling going straight after his surgically repaired face. The growing intense rivalry between El Ligero and Darkside escalated throughout the match as both countered each others moves. Suzuki caught an already dazed Heresy in 60 Seconds From The Stars sending the tag team champ into a stumbling mess. Whilst stumbling around the ring, unable to gain his footing The Mystics took advantage in a way only they knew how. In a throw back to last month where he was made to don an elephant mask, this time he was embarrassed again by wearing a Voodoo mask. Not content at stopping there, The Mystics went on to kit him out in a Voodoo cape and a Voodoo staff. A confused LeVay mistook Heresy (now dressed completely as Voodoo) for Voodoo himself and speared his own tag team partner knocking him out of the ring. All that was left for The Mystics to do was hit LeVay with the Cruci-Kick-Flip for the win. A late attempt by Darkside to break up the pin was thwarted by El Ligero who, as Darkside had done to him the month previous, held on to him and wouldn't let go, ensuring his team won after 13mins 16seconds.
Now that's what i call justice!

In Ring Debut:
Bruce Sheila vs. Croc-A-Roc-A-Mous

"It's A Croc-Bloc For Sheila."

New GPW arrival, Bruce Sheila had promised at "Back With A Bang" that at "Out For Justice" he'd take on what he called the "biggest, meanest, strongest competitor to ever step foot in a wrestling ring...". Vowing to show the wrestling world just how tough Australian men really are, anticipation built as who his opponent might be. The curtain eventually opened and the crowd laid eyes on.... - an inflatable crocodile called Croc-a-Roc-a-Mous. Bruce treated the opponent as if it were Verne Gagne, stalking his prey whilst giving the crowd a quick lesson in crocodile facts.
Eventually he pounced on Croc-a-Roc and used tape to seal up his jaws. He then took liberties on the harmless inflatable reptile nailing it with the "Ayres Rock Bottom", the "Out-Back Breaker" and a number of other high impact moves. As the uncomfortable beating looked to be drawing an end, on the ramp appeared Thor Laarson, Kristov Eganski, and Vladimir Radkov, 3/4's of The Eastern Bloc. All 3 men stood proudly eating pies and taking in the huge crowd adulation. It caused just enough time for their 4th and final member - Jak Domitrescu to sneak through the crowd, jump the barrier and ready himself on the apron for Bruce to turn round. When Bruce did... Jak was waiting with a pie of his own. Into the Aussie's face it went, blinding Bruce with meat and potatoes long enough for Croc-a-Roc-a-Mous to fall on top of the man from Queensland and pick up a win on his wrestling debut. What a story! The Eastern Bloc then helped Croc-a-Roc to celebrate the win in the ring as they freed his jaws of the masking tape and treated him to some of the pie that had assisted him in his victory.
How ironic it is that a Wigan pie, courtesy of the Eastern Europeans, helps the England-hating Aussie lose to an inflatable crocodile. Surely a series of events you'd NEVER thought you see in a wrestling ring....

Tag Team Grudge Match:
The MasterPlan vs. Valour & Roberts

"Si Shows No Valour..."

Something, somewhere in this match went wrong. It was supposed to answer questions and solve the issues between the two teams. Instead, it has posed new questions and created a world of new problems...
You'd be forgiven in thinking this was any normal match when the teams made their entrances. As normal as any match could be between two tag teams with a severe dislike for one another. There was no hint of trouble when both Dylan and Si got the better of Kraze and Feelgood in the early going. They went to town on Feelgood, tossing the former Heavyweight champ from pillar to post. However, the canny veteran and self proclaimed "world's smartest wrestler", Dirk Feelgood escaped the full wrath of Valour & Roberts managing to get a tag to his partner - Cameron Kraze. Cameron was able to take control of the match, and cut Dylan off from his partner Si Valour. The quick tags and impressive movement from The MasterPlan prevented Dylan making any progress to his corner to tag Si in. Maybe it was here where things went wrong? The frustration of not being able to get in the ring to save his partner? Whenever it went wrong, as much pain as Dylan was feeling at the hands of Dirk and Kraze was about to get ten times worse...
Eventually breaking free of The MasterPlan's quick tags, Dylan who'd been cheered on relentlessly by the crowd finally managed to get the tag to partner Si Valour. As Si entered the ring, The MasterPlan retreated on their back foot and cowered in fright from Si's well renowned punishing offence. But Si never struck either MasterPlan member, he just stood there. The crowd cheered him as loud as they ever have done over the last 3 years, but Si, just stood there. Behind him, Dylan was rising to his feet, as he got up - Si turned round and without warning, nor explanation took Dylan's head off with the lariat. In a silenced and shocked Ballroom, Valour left the ring. As the legal man in the match he was counted out and The MasterPlan were awarded a victory that they genuinely looked confused to be getting after 9mins 55secs.

GPW Heavyweight Title Re-Match:
Juggernaut vs. "Dangerous" Damon Leigh

"3 For The Price Of 1"

Justice was the theme for the evening and if anyone deserved it - it was DDL. Having had Heavyweight Champion, Juggernaut beaten during his title match last month DDL eventually lost the match. He was given a second chance at "Out For Justice". Juggernaut made his entrance to the ring with his Attorney and Law, Alan A.A Tasker at his side. Ring announcer, Sam Shaw announced "Dangerous" Damon Leigh and as his music hit the Ballroom waited. And waited. And waited. No DDL. He was announced a second time, his music played again and still, no DDL. Under pressure from Attorney and Law Tasker, the ref had no choice but to start the 10 count. If DDL hadn't answered his count, he would forfeit the match. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9.....

..... El Ligero's music played. What's this? Why is this? There was no DDL, but the man we'd seen in action earlier in the night made his way down the ramp to the ring motioning to his shoulder. It was of course, Juggernaut who put El Ligero on the injured list for just short of 12 months on March 20th 2009, exactly a year and a day that night. It was clear Ligero was out for justice. But, he didn't get it.
This intense and bubbling rivalry between El Ligero and Darkside escalated further when Darkside also appeared on the ramp behind Ligero with a steel chair in hand. He attacked Ligero with the chair and threw him backstage. Juggernaut and Tasker celebrated once again, but it wasn't over yet.

Just when they thought they'd finished the night unscathed, Ricky J. McKenzie's music hit and the man who'd won the right to challenge anyone, anywhere, at any time a month earlier had come to cash in his match and challenge Juggernaut to a one on one match for the Heavyweight Title, right here, right now. The match was on. And what a match it was.
RJM started the match off with what brought him to the dance in the first place - his ability to fly. Diving over the top rope and onto both Tasker and Juggernaut on the outside. RJM had everyone in the Ballroom's attention. But it wasn't long before Juggernaut was able to take control and in a sequence that echo'd what he'd done to DDL the month earlier he slammed McKenzie down hard on the Ballroom floor and made that same sickening sound that had made people squirm in their seats the month earlier as seats. Next up was a chop that sounded more like lightening cracking. Skin on skin there wasn't a person in the building with a dry eye or without a "ewww" on their lips. Juggernaut was now in the driving seat. The crowd were behind RJM more so then than ever before. It must've been the energy from the crowd that allowed him to find the strength to clock the champ with an unforgiving 1,000 Hand Slap that rocked the monster. Going close on several occasions with 2 counts, there was now a feeling in the building that RJM might just do this... that feeling was compounded when he hit a picture perfect swanton he likes to call Fly n Die to get a long, long 2 count. The action then swayed back and forth as both men hit big moves and countered others. A second Fly n Die attempt ended up doing the latter and opened the door for Juggernaut to seal the win. Moments later he caught McKenzie with a clothesline that many have said to be "the sickest they've ever seen" and took his head clean off for a decisive victory after 13mins and 10seconds. RJM was given a standing ovation in a match that everyone thought - "he just might you know...".

GPW British Title Match:
Joey Hayes vs. "The Juice" CJ Banks

"2 + 2 = 3, But Crowd Want 5? .... 5 More Minutes That Is!"

Confused by that equation? You wont be. Let me explain.
When the names Joey Hayes & CJ Banks are pitted against one another - you're never going to be disappointed. Add to that the fact they are fighting over the prestigious British Title and you've got an absolute classic on your hands.
Much had been made prior to the bell sounding of both these men's careers mirroring one another. So, it's a natural desire for one to want to outdo the other to prove they are better in order to put to rest any comparisons. With that in mind, the tone was set for the match as the crowd were treated to a wrestling masterclass. The two traded holds in a textbook wrestling match that built and built, ending in a shocking climax. The crowd firmly in the corner of Joey Hayes throughout applauded his efforts in one of the best wrestling clinics you'll see anywhere in Europe. Back and forth the action went, as the pace began to quicken Joey excited the crowd by hitting Juice with a spinning flat liner. Not to be out-done, Juice hit his signature rolling Germans and was able to counter Joey's attempt at a Teenage Kick into a Texas Clover Leaf, but Joey dug deep and hung in. The match wasn't over yet.
Juice scaled the top rope but The Ballroom rallied behind challenger Joey Hayes to get back to his feet. He responded by leaping with the agility of a cat to the top rope to meet Juice as the two fought it out above the canvas below. Tussling for position, Joey nearly lost his footing at one point but regained his composure to hook Juice up for a superplex. The two crashed to the canvass at exactly the same time, landing with such impact that their legs entwined with one another and the ref counted 1,2,3 at exactly 15mins into the match. The crowd jumped to their feet as Joey Hayes' music played. Finally Juice had been beaten for the title. But.... as Joey was about to raise the title he thought he'd won, head referee Michael Fitzgerald took it off him. What's this? The crowd boo'd. The referee took the microphone and explained that both men's shoulders were down at the same time. He wasn't counting Juice's, he wasn't counting Joey's - he was counting both. The match, is a draw. Still GPW British Champion, and still only defeated once in 17months - "The Juice" CJ Banks. The crowd erupted into a deafening chant of "5 More Minutes! 5 More Minutes!". Referee, Michael Fitzgerald sanctioned the extra 5 minutes only if both parties agreed. Undeterred from the shocking turn of events that saw him go so close to become a two time British Champ, Joey didn't need to be asked twice and agreed immediately. However, Champion CJ Banks refused to wrestle anymore and left the building with the championship around his waste. Surely this great rivalry is not over just yet.

Main Event - GPW British Title Match:
"The Juice" CJ Banks © vs. Joey Hayes

Two of the premier wrestlers in Europe who have flown the flag for Garage Pro Wrestling, and wrestling in the North of England for the last 7 years will do battle for the coveted GPW British Title in a feature one on one match. Juice vs. Joey Hayes. Main Events don't come much bigger than this. These two tore the house down in the final of the CC8 Tournament last year and lit up the Ballroom again at "Back With A Bang" in a MOTN tag match. After Joey pinned Juice for the second consecutive time to win the tag match, he has been deemed No.1 Contender to the British Title and a match has been signed.
Joey is no stranger to the Title having held the belt between July and November 2007, but now has his sights set on a second reign in 2010. The Garage Pro Wrestling fans absolutely adore Joey, having watched him grow as a superstar starting from humble beginnings when he first appeared on GPW's debut show over 7 years ago, to the Europe-wide recognised performer he is now.

The man standing in the way of a second reign as British Champ is his former SIN stablemate and 2008 CC8 winner "The Juice" CJ Banks. Juice has only been beaten once in singles competition in 17 months, a record that nearly mirrors Joey's own impressive undefeated run from 2004 - 2006. The two men know each other like the back of their hand, and this match has instant classic written all over it. Can Juice prevent Joey getting a second reign as British Champ, or can Joey continue the momentum and pin Juice again - this time to take the GPW British Championship?
What will happen in this unmissable main event!?

GPW Heavyweight Title Re-Match:
Juggernaut © w/ Alan A.A Tasker vs. "Dangerous" Damon Leigh

"Dangerous" Damon Leigh had waited all his career to get a shot at the GPW Heavyweight Title.   However, his attempt to beat Juggernaut last month ended in heartbreak for DDL, his family and his friends. He got so close to beating the monster but was denied in the final stages of the match, leaving DDL dejected, despondent and wearing the heavy weight of disappointment.

He told the GPW fans after the match that he "just couldn't do this anymore..." and returned backstage with his head hung, leaving fans to wonder what the future holds. However, due to overwhelming fan support and no official No.1 Contender, it has been decided DDL will get a re-match at "Out For Justice".   Juggernaut is now in his 11 month reign as champion, should he win here he'll have the prestigious honour of being the second longest reigning GPW Heavyweight Champion of all time (TJ Cain the longest with a 462 day reign, Dirk Feelgood currently the second with a 336 day reign).
So, needless to say - he won't be going down without giving DDL the fight of his life. Juggernaut is looking as strong and as impressive as ever, and with Alan Tasker in his corner he'll never be short of a trick up his sleeve. But, with a second bite at the cherry can DDL do it this time? He had Juggernaut beaten at "Back With A Bang" but there was no referee to count the 3. Will history repeat itself? Or can Damon finally lift the Heavyweight Title for the first time? These two had a classic last time, don't miss out on what promises to be another emotional encounter. Juggernaut vs. DDL - the re-match!

Tag Team Grudge Match:
The MasterPlan vs. Valour & Roberts

This match has been a long time coming for Valour & Roberts. The MasterPlan, Dirk Feelgood and Cameron Kraze have tried their best to split the two up since October last year by launching consistent attempts to recruit Dylan Roberts as a third member of the faction. However, despite their efforts the team have stuck together and Dylan has turned down the multiple offers to join. His faithful partner, Si Valour fought for the teams honour in a one on one match against Feelgood at "Back With A Bang".
Even though he won by DQ, Valour took two sickening chair shots to the skull in a 2 on 1 attack during the match, the second of which was delivered with such force that it broke the chair. War hero Dylan suffered the same fate in his match against Cameron Kraze, losing the match after a knock out "Mafia Kick" Dylan was once again targeted throughout the match by Feelgood.
But now, for the first time - Valour & Roberts will have their chance at revenge in a tag team capacity where the sides are even and there's no such thing as the numbers game. Si and Dyaln, who have been teaming together since May last year epitomise courage, bravery and standing up for what's right. Their opposition, Kraze and Feelgood have never teamed together in a tag environment and the pair have taken shortcuts and trod on others toes to get ahead. Courage and honour mean nothing to them but something will have to give when these 4 men collide in this Tag Team Grudge match. If you're going to pick a winner based on experience then look no further than Valour & Roberts.
The two have worked well every time they've been paired together, but can their experience overcome the two individuals intent on inflicting pain and exercising violence? Can good defeat evil in this exciting looking tag match...?

Grudge Match:
Fox Carter vs. Martin Kirby

These two relative newcomers to the roster have had their horns locked in battle since the CC8. Carter spent all 2009 accompanying Juice to the ring acting as his personal trainer, but the Tournament Quarters were the first time we actually saw him in singles action. He qualified for the Tournament surprising everyone by entering, and winning The Last Chance Battle Royal in October. Martin Kirby made his GPW debut in February 2009 and quickly became the success story of the year. A very impressive 12 months saw a win over American John Walters, two Heavyweight Title shots against Juggernaut, a huge win in "Luke Marsden's Big £10k Battle Royal" all ensuring Kirby took his place in the hearts and minds of every single GPW fan. However, a near perfect year was cut short at the hands of Fox Carter as he put the breaks on Kirby advancing in the CC8.

The two first met at the Quarter Finals of the CC8 where Fox was beaten and subsequently knocked out of the Tournament by Kirby and this didn't sit well with Fox. He attacked Kirby whilst he made his entrance to the ring for the Semi Final to take on Juice. The attack severely hampered any chance Kirby had in getting to the Final. At "Back With A Bang", the two met again, this time in tag team action. Kirby gained some measure of revenge, but there are still serious issues between these two. Revenge is due in bucket loads in this special Grudge Match. Can Kirby get another perfect year underway with a win here, or will Fox upset plans again?

Six Man Tag:
El Ligero & The Mystics vs. Darkside & Paradise Lost

Two different worlds collide in this intriguing 6-Man Tag. The colourful looking team of El Ligero, Voodoo and Suzuki team up for the first time to take on dark and sinister looking opposition in the form of Darkside, Heresy and Kastor LeVay. Issues a plenty here as it was Darkside who pulled Ligero off the apron on the 9 count allowing RJM to pick up the win in the New Year's Honours 4-Way. The two returning superstars had clashed several times throughout the 4-way, both trying to re-establish themselves on the roster after lengthily periods away. They will have another chance at establishment on March 19th as they meet again here in this huge 6-Man Tag!
Tag Team Champions, Paradise Lost confirmed the tag division is intact during their interview on Feb 19th and that they will continue to defend their championship. Viable contenders to that trophy look to be Suzuki and Voodoo - The Mystics. The Mystics have been singled out by Heresy as being responsible for the fractured skull he suffered in the 8-Man Heavyweight Clash in November. They did nothing to mend any bridges at "Back With A Bang" as an attempt to cheer Heresy up backfired in epic fashion and he and partner Kastor LeVay pounced on the fun loving Suzuki and Voodoo. The Mystics however had Paradise Lost on the run in the end though and have proven they have the measure of both Heresy and LeVay. Plenty of never before seen clashes in this one, who will have their hand raised at the end though? Who will establish themselves as the dominant force, Darkside or Ligero? And can The Mystics upset the tag team champions for a second time?

Re-Match:
William Gáylord vs. Danny Hope

Danny Hope scored a win out of nowhere at "Back With A Bang" in his first meeting with William Gáylord after reversing the "Perfectly Gáy-Plex" into an inside cradle to get the 1,2,3. But, the result didn't sit well with the Kings Hill resident. Upset at the loss, Gáylord went onto confront an audience member during the raffle, threatening him to a "bloody good hiding" and challenging them to a "dual". Danny Hope came to the fans rescue and offered Gáylord the chance to fight him again in a re-match to be held at GPW:
"Out For Justice". Gáylord accepted the challenge and here we have our match.
Can Danny get the better of Gáyord for the second onsecutive month?
Or can Gáylord make it 1 - 1 in this growing rivalry?

Bruce Sheila Debuts:   Bruce Sheila vs. "The Biggest, Meanest, Strongest Competitor To Ever Step Foot In A Wrestling Ring..."

Bruce Sheila's maiden voyage in a GPW ring couldn't have gone much worse than it did at "Back With A Bang". Making instant enemies with anyone with English blood in their veins, Sheila insulted "the pommies" by telling them the Aussies were better at just about everything compared to them. Claiming Wigan Rugby League wouldn't even be in existence if it weren't for his fellow countrymen, and the only reason he'd come to GPW was to prove to the world that Australians were better at wrestling as well as everything else. He promised that on March 19th at "Out For Justice" he'd take on what he called "the biggest, meanest, strongest competitor to ever step foot in a wrestling ring" to prove to everyone just how good he is. So, at "Out For Justice" we're set to see just how good Bruce is. Who might his opponent be? Will Bruce be shown up again? Or can he convince the wrestling world that Aussies are better at wrestling too?
