After a 2 month break from shows, GPW was back at the Monaco Ballroom on January 19th with their 1st show of the year. In front of a hot 300+ crowd, they started the year as they meant to go on with a great show.

4-Way Madness
Match 1: El Ligero Vs Rupert Holmes Vs Jiggy Walker Vs "Super" Sam Bailey

GPW started the year with an explosive match that had crowd levels at a near record high for the Monaco Ballroom. The 3 Cruiserweights went full speed with Walker doing his best to keep up, in a match that saw a crazy set of stereo dives from both Ligero and Bailey as well as a deadly combination of moves from the top rope that brought the crowd to its feet. It was El Ligero's experience in that made the difference and the man from Los Sancho's was able to pin Jiggy after nailing his C4L DDT for a well deserved 3 count.

Johnny Phere pinned "Easy" Ernie Benson after the Whirly Bird into the DDT
Pheres win loss record for 2007 begins at 1 win

Phere was quick to mark down his intentions for the year as he stormed the ring and destroyed his opponent in less than 90 seconds. The intense S.I.Nner then told the crowd in no uncertain terms, 2007 was going to be the "Year of Phere".

After that, the MC for the night directed everyone's attention to the GPW Video Wall as a package played for the returning Dom Travis. Travis talked about his training in Canada with Lance Storm last year and his new direction and dream of one day winning the GPW Heavyweight Title. Not happy with anyone making reference to the title he lost in October, Heresy and the rest of S.I.N made there presence known straight after.

The S.I.N leader heckled Dom as he sat on the balcony and claimed he can dream all he wants but tonight was his night to win the Heavyweight title.
Insulted by Heresy's arrogance, the current champion Dirk Feelgood came out to remind Heresy that he'd embarrased him not only once, but twice before and that tonight was just going to be like the last two times. With the crowd firmly behind Dirk, Heresy was about to make his job a little easier by unleashing his dogs onto the champ but before he could, Feelgood brought out his two friends to even up the odds, Bubblegum and Darkside!

Tag Team Match
S.I.N (The Juice/Joseph Hayes) def. Darkside & Bubblegum

After foiling a sneak attack, Bubblegum and Darkside took it straight to their Crazy Cruiser 8 semi-finalist counterparts, but it wasn't long until the two young S.I.Ners took control and slowed the pace of the match to keep the popular duo as grounded as possible.

After being beaten by the 2 men he defeated on his way to win the CC8 Tournament, Bubblegum was able to make the tag to Darkside and the two looked set to win the match but after a low blow by Juice on Darkside, Bubblegum was left to fall victim to the Teenage Kick before the 2006 Rookie of the Year, Juice was able to drill him with his Leg Trap DVD for the 3.

NON-TITLE MATCH
"Dangerous" Damon Leigh pinned "The Model" Danny Hope after a Risk Factor.

In a match that resembled a handicap more than a singles match, DDL had his arm dismantled by both "The Model" and his tag partner Jiggy Walker on the outside. With only one arm to work with British Champion looked to be struggling to fight back and it looked like the champion was set to take a huge loss as Hope locked in his trademark "Catwalk Clutch", but with the crowd's support compensating for his damaged limb, he was able to counter Hope's submission and eventually nail the Risk Factor for the 3 count!

But before DDL could leave the ring an unknown monster charged in and took the champion clean out with a huge suplex before locking on a vicious claw hold. As both ring crew and referee tried to pull the beast off the British Champion, his manager introduced us to the "Juggernaught" before warning DDL that he had brought him to GPW for one reason and that was to kill Damon Leigh.

GPW Tag Team Champions:
Project Ego were against Dominic Blade and Dylan Roberts.

Project Ego Vs Dylan Roberts/Dominic Blade
The GPW Tag Team Champions returned to action for the first time in 6 months and made short work of their opponents. After Hexx dropped Roberts on his head, the team nailed their trademark Ego Trip on Blade for an easy 3 count. After the match, the two got on the microphone and told of their disgust at the level of competition in GPW and announced a gauntlet next month to find a team worthy of being in the ring with them.

With Heresy determined to win back the title he feels was robbed, it wasn't long until he was using every tool in his arsenal against the hugely popular Heavyweight Champion. With all 3 members of S.I.N. running out to help beat Dirk down, it looked like he wasn't going to make it out of his first defence with the belt in tow. Still angry with the S.I.N City natives from earlier, it was Dom Travis who was to be Dirks savior as he jumped into the ring from the crowd and chased Heresy's hencemen to them back. As the champion and challenger slugged it out without interuptions, Dirk was somehow able to survive a Top Rope Breaking Restraints before nailing his Anaesthic DDT for the win and a huge ovation from the GPW faithful!
