GPW will be back after
a short break on August 14th for a rare Saturday slot at
The Monaco Ballroom, Hindley, Wigan. The first order of
business is a slight name change, from this point on we're
ditching the Garage (some might say about time!) and re-branding
as Grand Pro Wrestling, but we're still staying very much
GPW!
On with what you can expect to see on August 14th at GPW:

Friday September 17th
sees Grand Pro Wrestling present the 4th instalment of our
annual "Thriller" show.
Traditionally, "Thriller" shows have provided
shocks and surprises that have shaken the foundations of
the promotion. Unexpected title changes, unexpected results,
wild impromptu venue wide brawls, impromptu classics, even
impromptu 30 man Rumbles have all happened in the three
Thrillers before this. So, that should have you asking yourself
- what the hell is going to happen this year!?
"Friday Night Thriller IV" will be held at The
Monaco Ballroom, Atherton Road, Hindley, Wigan WN2 3EU.
Doors will open at 7, show will start at 7:30. Tickets are
only £7 per person, or £24 for a family of 4!!
Here's how the full
card stacks up:
Main
Event Semi Final Leg 2:
"Dangerous" Damon Leigh vs. Dave Mastiff w/
Alan A.A Tasker |
Following the injury
and subsequent retirement of former Heavyweight Champion,
Juggernaut a 4 man tournament was set up to crown a new
Grand Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion. Mark Kodiak, El
Ligero, "Dangerous" Damon Leigh and Alan A.A Tasker
were the men deemed entitled to a chance at winning it.
Kodiak, the last man eliminated by eventual Rumble winner
DDL. El Ligero, the man who fought to a draw against Juggernaut
in May. DDL, the winner of the 30 Man Rumble, and the retiring
champions' manager - Alan A.A Tasker.
Not allowed to compete himself, Tasker was given the chance
to keep the belt in his court if he were able to register
a new client in time to compete, and he has. The man Tasker
has chosen is GPW debutant, Big Dave Mastiff. Tasker is
now just one step away from keeping the title with him as
he pins his hopes on his latest client, Dave Mastiff. With
a proven track record for winning gold for his clients,
there's every chance Tasker and his new man Mastiff could
break DDL fans' hearts and advance to the final. Tasker
has chosen a man no one knows how to handle, Mastiff is
an unknown quantity and has to be seen as the favourite
in this.
For former multiple time British Champion and Tag Champion,
"Dangerous" Damon Leigh it's another hurdle. The
only title to evade him in his 10 year career has been the
Heavyweight Championship and every time he gets close, the
title seemingly becomes further away. He is one win away
from being able to compete for the championship. Can DDL
defeat the man making his GPW debut, or will there be more
set backs for Damon?
Tag
Team Match:
The MasterPlan vs. Joey Hayes & Mystery Partner |
The MasterPlan grew
in numbers as Dirk Feelgood faced Dylan Roberts last month.
Jiggy Walker jumped the barricade and slid into the ring
to take out Dylan's knee with a sickly chair shot revealing
himself to be The MasterPlan's 3rd member. Following the
chair shot, whilst in Figure of Feelgood Dylan eventually
passed out and the match was awarded to Feelgood. The newly
formed trio of MasterPlan members delivered a vile 3 man
beatdown on Dylan before Joey Hayes ran to his aid and made
a challenge to former GPW Heavyweight Champion, Dirk Feelgood.
The challenge was for a one on one match, to which Feelgood
turned down citing having already eliminated Joey from the
Rumble in May he'd already proven he was better than him.
Joey persisted and Dirk cut him a deal, if he could find
a tag team partner for "Friday Night Thriller IV"
he would fight him in a tag team match. Dirk and Cameron
will have Jiggy Walker at their side as they taken on Joey
and a mystery partner.
Who can Joey rely on? Will Dylan's knee have healed in time
for him to partner Joey? Is there someone from the roster
he can count on, or does Joey have to look further a field
to find a tag partner to defeat The MasterPlan?

| "The
Juice" CJ Banks British Title Open Challenge |
GPW British Champion,
"The Juice" CJ Banks will issue yet another open
challenge at "Friday Night Thriller IV" to anyone
he hasn't faced before. You'd be forgiven in thinking that
this whole Open Challenge orchestrated by Banks is a set
up from the start if what happened at "Alive &
Amplified" was anything to go by. Just as his challenge
was accepted by Danny Hope, Banks' associate Fox Carter
made sure Hope didn't even make it to the ring. As both
Banks and Carter celebrated, it was Martin Kirby who surprised
them and took up the challenge instead. With Carter sent
to the back, Kirby and Banks battled it out one on one and
Kirby surprised everybody by beating the champ with a victory
roll to become the new GPW British Champion....or not. Banks
immediately snatched the title back and declared that the
match was never a title match. It was Danny Hope who'd accepted
the title match challenge, Kirby hadn't won anything.
With this kind of underhand approach to the Open Challenge,
what will Juice have in store this time? Is there anyone
who can take him on at his own game and beat him to become
the new British Champion?
British
Title No.1 Contenders Match:
Danny Hope vs. Fox Carter |
Danny Hope accepted
CJ Banks' Open Challenge at "Alive & Amplified"
only to be jumped by his associate and personal trainer
- Fox Carter. Carter viciously DDT'd Danny on the rampway
before he'd even had chance to make it to the ring. With
the whole open challenge smelling like a set up from the
start, Danny has now issued a challenge to the man who stopped
him in his tracks, but not just in any match - this match
will determine the new No.1 Contender to the GPW British
Championship.
Relative new comer Fox Carter has already made waves on
the roster but being the No.1 Contender to the British title
would surely seal his arrival onto the stage of professional
wrestling. And of course, should Banks be successful in
his Open Challenge it would certainly offer up an interesting
scenario if Fox should win here. Likewise if Banks didn't
win. Should Banks lose to whoever takes up his challenge
you can guarantee he'll task Fox in getting the belt back
for him. Should Danny's armed be raised at the end, he will
have the chance to challenge the British Champion for a
title he has never competed for before. With so many possible
outcomes and down the line scenarios - who will come out
the No.1 Contender to the British Title?
One On One:
El Ligero vs. Jack Gallagher |
Two men looking to
re-establish themselves in the GPW rankings will meet each
other in singles competition for only the second time. Their
first meeting was over two years ago in the Crazy Cruiser8
Quarter Finals, May 2008. A lot was at stake then as will
be in this meeting where the outcome will no doubt be of
high significance on where each man's rest of the year goes.
Ligero is fresh from a Semi Final defeat against Mark Kodiak
and thus finds himself out of the title hunt. He'll be desperate
for a win against Gallagher to re-establish himself as a
contender on the roster. Jack Gallagher (formerly Jack Toxic)
is also on the first footsteps of a new path after parting
ways with long term tag partner Cyanide as the team of Lethal
Dose dissolved in April. Gallagher, despite his previous
achievements in singles competition has long been considered
"a tag team wrestler", now looking to peruse a
career in singles competition, a win here over an established
GPW superstar and a mega fan favourite would be a huge feather
in his cap. This match has great potential to steal the
show. Who will come out on top when these two hungry superstars
clash one on one?
GPW Tag Title Warm Up Match:
Paradise Lost © vs. The Eastern Bloc |
GPW Tag Team Champions, Paradise Lost now know who the No.1
Contenders are to their Tag Team Trophy but have requested
a non-title warm up match before they defend. The two time
champs' challenge has been taken up by the hugely popular
Eastern Bloc. This year, The Bloc turned over a new leaf
and have become some of the most popular stars on the roster.
Lead by former British Champion Jak Domitrescu, a pairing
from The Bloc will combine to try and cause an upset against
the preacher and the creature, Heresy and Kastory LeVay.
A win for The Bloc would surely stand them in good stead
for a title shot down the line, a loss for Paradise Lost
is unthinkable as they prepare to defend their titles against
"Super" Sam Bailey and Ricky J. McKenzie at some
point in the near future.

Tag Team Title No.1 Contenders Interview |
Sam Shaw will host
a special interview with the newly crowned No.1 Contenders
to the GPW Tag Team Trophy, the duo of "Super"
Sam Bailey and Ricky J. McKenzie.
Bailey won the 4-way at "Alive & Amplified"
which entitled him and a partner of his choosing to challenge
Paradise Lost at any date in the future for their Tag Team
Titles. Before Bailey had chance to announce who the partner
of his choosing would be, both Heresy & LeVay attacked.
Later that evening Bailey got his revenge by interrupting
Paradise Lost in the 8-Man Mega Match costing them the win.
Causing a distraction, it gave RJM enough time to roll up
Heresy for the 3 count. Following the victory, Bailey then
announced RJM as his tag team partner. At "Friday Night
Thriller IV" Sam Shaw will try and get into the heads
of the new No.1 Contenders. Our "Friday Night Thriller"
shows have a rich vein of good quality matches, upsets,
twists and turns - anything could happen!
Who will take up the Juice challenge?
Who will be Joey Hayes' tag team partner?
Who will be the British Title No.1 Contender?
What will the new No.1 Contenders to the Tag Trophy have
