Championship Warm Up Match: Danny S vs GPW Heavyweight
Champion The Juggernaught w/ AAA Tasker |
The Juggernaught was
out to send a message to the winner of the Number One Contenders
Match later in the night and didn't waste time in delivering
that message. The Juggernaught pretty much bulldozed his
way through the new comer and at one point, gorilla pressed
the kid to the outside and it was only down to sheer guts
and determination that Danny made it back to the ring. However
his luck soon ran out as Juggernaught smashed through him
one more time with a huge lariat and got the pinfall victory.

"Truth & Consequences".CC8 4-Way Qualifier
Crazy Cruiser 8 Qualifier: Voodoo vs Matty Taylor vs
Jack Toxic vs Ricky J. Mckenzie w/ Rebecca Jayne. |
The show kicked off
in explosive fashion as 4 of the top junior heavyweights
in England fought to be the first man guranteed a place
in the Crazy Cruiser8 Tournament 2009. It was every man
for himself but that did not Matty Taylor from persuading
RJM to re enact the popular WKD facebuster/dropkick combo.
After lots of action in the ring, the fight spilled to the
outside where the wrestlers took to the air with a series
of dives, each more awe inspiring then the last. Returning
to the ring, Jack Toxic caught Voodoo with an anklelock
submission on Voodoo only to leave himself in position for
RJM to connect with an impressive Swanton Bomb on the "Not
so average wrestler" or so he claims, RJM got the cover
and Jack and the pinfall and advances into the Crazy Cruiser
8 in November.

Paradise Lost faced a tough battle in their first defence
of the Tag Team Trophy in the form of number one contenders,
Valour and Roberts who had defeated Lethal Dose and The Mystics
in a triple threat match back in July. This was tag team warfare
at its best with both teams controlling the match for long
periods and only the tiniest of mistakes caused each side
to lose it. Valour and Roberts nearly had the trophy won on
several occasions but it was the veteran instinct of Heresy
that turned the tide and saw Valour put himself in a precarious
position which led allowed Heresy and Kastor Le Vay to hit
their Doomsday Bulldog double team finisher on Valour and
that was enough on this night, to defeat the challengers.
That being said next time these two teams meet the outcome
could very easily go the other way.

"British Title Showdown featuring British
Champion Sam Bailey and CC8 2008 Winner and British
Title Number One Contender "The Juice" CJ
Banks. |
CJ Banks hit the
ring first with his entourage not long after the ring announcer,
Sam Shaw had announced that Banks along with Bubblegum (the
inaugural tournament winner back in 2006) and Joey Hayes
would all be in the 2009 tournament. Banks said he would
be entering the tournament not as a previous winner but
also as British Champion. Bailey hit the ring and challenged
Banks to put his money where his mouth is, if he wanted
a British title shot so badly he should be prepared to defend
his spot in the coveted tournament. Banks, not one to back
down agreed and the stage is set for a huge main event at
Friday Night Thriller in October.
GPW Heavyweight Title No.1 Contenders Match
DDL vs. Dirk Feelgood |
Both men had something
to prove in this one, Dirk of course was one of the most
successful GPW Champions to date and is very keen on regaining
his spot at the top. Meanwhile DDL is on a quest to win
the illustrious crown of GPW titles. He has already won
the British title (on 4 occasions no less) and recently
had a very successful run as one half of the tag team champions
with best friend Joey Hayes until the team was forced to
split forever back in July. This match was also a first
time encounter between the two, they have never wrestled
each other one on one in GPW prior to this match. That being
said it seemed each had done his homework on the other as
Dirk managed to avoid Damon's triple elbow sequence, causing
Damon to land awkwardly on the mat an injury which gave
Dirk the advantage for sometime. Damon by contrast had many
of Dirk's moves well scouted as well.
The crowd was later stunned when Dirk dug down deep and
managed to kick out of Damon's celebrated Risk Factor move,
a move noone had kicked out of previously and Damon kicked
out of Dirks mulekick to the face. At this point the crowd
were on the edge of their seats as both men, battered and
bruised and no doubt exhausted after a near 20 minute war
but it was Damon who ultimately triumphed when he caught
Dirk with his STF submission hold right in the centre of
the ring. There clearly was no escape for Dirk on this one
and he had no choice but to tap out. Your NEW Number One
Contender is "Dangerous" Damon Leigh! After the
match GPW Champion The Juggernaught had a staredown with
his new foe, when will this match take place? You'll have
to keep attending the shows to find out!

Martin Kirby called
out Luke Marsden and challenged him to a fight right there
in the Monaco Ballroom. The BB 2009 finalist had other ideas
and informed Martin and the fans that he had found a substitute,
well actually it was 4 substitutes, The Eastern Bloc.
Handicap Match: Martin Kirby vs the Eastern Bloc
Never before had Martin Kirby ever faced such impossible
odds but he seemed to put that thought to the back of his
mind for the duration of this contest. Martin's bravery
and courage gave him a slight advantage of his opponents
in the early going until the numbers game became too much
for Hindleys own superstar. Every time it seemed Kirby would
manage to win the match, Thor Larsen, the biggest and strongest
member of the Bloc was there to thwart him. Realising this,
Kirby used the monsters strength to his advantage and after
knocking down Domintrescu, Radkov and Eganski with a unique
triple DDT, he tripped Thor who landed on his allies giving
Martin the necessary leverage to gain a pinfall victory
over his foes.
 |
Martin was not done yet however, with the Bloc incapacitated,
Martin finally got his hands on Marsden and grabbed a bin
from the ringside area and despite Marsden's protestations,
Kirby finally got his revenge, Marsden ended up in the bin.
How Marsden will recover from this setback remains to be
seen. Nevertheless the fans in attendance were thrilled
with Martin's actions, glad to see the arrogant Marsden
had finally been put in his place.
No Holds Barred Main Event
Danny Hope vs. Jiggy Walker |
This rivalry had
been building ever since January and finally reached boiling
point in one of British's wrestlings most dangerous matches.
These two did not exchange holds for very long and the fight
soon spilled out into the crowd where the two made great
use of their surroundings and fists and feet were flying
all over the Monaco Ballroom. With the crowd fully behind
Danny Hope he gained control of the match. Jiggy did everything
he could to try and put his former friend and tag team partner
away, even connecting with the dreaded Curb Stomp but Danny
would not be denied and finished off Jiggy after his underhook
faceplant to the knee with a teeth shattering Superkick
(his third in that match overall) to finally end the feud
between the two. In appreciation of his efforts, the fans
gave Danny a standing ovation. What a way to end such an
awesome night in GPW.To reserve your
