Darkside Speaks Images © Tony Knox Review By David Bridson | | You could be forgiven for thinking it would prevail when fan’s favourite Darkside hit the ring at the top of the show, with the intention, at least we assumed, of apologising to Dirk Feelgood for being unable to stand alongside him as part of ‘Dirk’s DoGooders’. Instead, the man from parts unknown proceeded, when Dirk was confronted by fierce adversary Kodiak and SIN leader Heresy, to attack Feelgood from behind and raise the hands of his new team mates for the night: Kodiak’s Killers, who were facing Dirk’s team in the main event. | Surely no one could have suspected he would be the mystery partner of the vicious threesome of Johnny Phere, Heresy and Mark Kodiak. Any sympathy fans had for Darkside’s knee injury, which kept him out of a match against now partner Kodiak at GPW ‘Hooked’ the previous month, was soon evaporated. “Dirk Feelgood, first off I need to apologise…I know you found a perfect replacement for me.” Darkside began. Dirk was definitely wise to then ask Darkside whether he could rely on him later on that night. “Dirk, guaranteed, I have your back” Darkside told him. That was before Kodiak and Heresy hit the ring after Dirk announced he would put the GPW International Heavyweight Championship on the line next month against the Dutchman and claimed he would break his neck. Queue Darkside. Dirk was attacked from behind and hammered in a brutal three on one beat down. “Listen boys and girls, we’re gonna see you in the main event…in case you haven’t guessed yet, our fourth man is Darkside but that begs the question…where’s Johnny Phere?” Heresy blurted. “Johnny Phere is looking for you Si Valour but until Johnny’s ready, I might do this job for him, I might come with the Kodiak Killers and kick your female butts!” he continued, making reference to Valour’s upset victory over Phere at ‘Hot Gossip’ in March and subsequent rivalry with Phere. The master of the Ram Slam didn’t have to look far for DoGooders member Valour as he stormed the ring, despite GPW stars attempts to hold him back and engaged in a brawl with the Kodiak’s Killers members. Indeed, Phere found him just as quickly. Leaping from underneath the ring, Phere sent shockwaves through the Ballroom by Phere Spine busting Valour straight through the announcers table from the ring apron. The move would leave Valour in a neck brace, but as we would see later on, that wouldn’t stop the determined grappler. |
